
The Author
Barbara Torre Veltri is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Northern Arizona University. She earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Arizona State University and has served as a faculty member at Arizona State University, The University of Texas at Arlington and Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY). Her research interests include teacher education, alternative certification, and sports-themed curriculum. She has consulted with schools, districts, and taught courses for teachers and students in more than fifteen states. Her career began as an uncertified second-grade teacher in the Bronx, New York.
Dr. Veltri developed Power Hitter® as a classroom teacher in an all boys’ school in Greenwich, Connecticut in the 1980’s. Dr. Veltri holds certification N-6 ( NYS & CT), and 7-12 (Social Studies).
